What is SMC?
SMC is our men’s ministry with a heart to see men walk in the freedom Jesus secured on the cross. SMC stands for Shoot, Move, Communicate – the three skills required to effectively function on battlefields in the natural and spiritual realms.
Although training with the natural weapons of a modern-day minuteman is critical to the ministry, the real emphasis is equipping men in the spirit realm to walk in the liberty by which Christ has made us free. Therefore, there are many parallels to the first minutemen that stood against tyranny on the battlefields of Lexington and Concord in our Nation’s history.
How it Began
After ministering and pastoring in California for 10 years, the Lord began to give us a heart for creating a men's ministry like no other. Having a call to impact the mountain of Family, we saw the dire need for men walking in their calling as spiritual leaders. With Henry’s background as a Green Beret and personal testimony, we were led to unite the two together with hosting tactical shooting Men’s Advances. These are not “retreats” because men are not supposed to surrender territory they have taken. Never did we imagine God uniting his tactical shooting background with ministry that would start a Men’s Movement. Our first training event was held in March 2023 and since then we have graduated 7 classes.
Why do we care so much about men walking in freedom and purity?
Sexual immorality was something that Henry continued to struggle with as a Christian yet earnestly knew there had to be more in light of Christ’s sacrifice. Pursuing the heart of God led to a revelation of who he was in Christ as a new creation and the baptism with the Spirit. Only then did he begin to walk in freedom that he knew was available this side of heaven.
What’s the connection to Human Sex Trafficking?
Our boys are being groomed by the porn industry to objectify women and view them as consumable products to fulfill the desires of the flesh. Men are not the problem, they are the solution to the scourge of human sex trafficking because pornography fuels the demand and as men wake up to righteousness and begin walking in freedom from sexual immorality the demand is diminished. Men are wired to fight battles and when they walk in freedom they will put their hands to setting the captives free.
Today
Since our first SMC we are seeing a band of brothers who share the same core values develop. It has become a tribe of men upholding freedom, justice, and truth with an unapologetic love for Jesus. We continue to follow the Lord as he directs our steps, so stay tuned as there is more to come for sure. Since Amanda shares the mission of the ministry, she became certified as an NRA pistol instructor and Range Safety Officer to enable opportunities in the future for women to take a stand as well.
